Exploring the enchanting allure of its monuments will give you a transcendent experience. Monuments like the pyramids of Giza to the majestic temples that tell stories of pharaohs and gods, all these magnificent monuments of Egypt will surely put you in a trance.

Join me to get spellbound by the grandeur and splendor of Egypt and its marvelous monuments. Let's explore these monuments where each stone whispers a story!

A Journey to the Magnificence of Ancient Monuments of Egypt

In the northern corner of Africa is Egypt, which embodies ancient civilization and the gloriousness of history and culture. Along with its golden sands, Egypt also has a rhythmic and mesmerizing Nile River, which adds to its charm. However, some of the archaeological wonders in Egypt leave modern travelers and history lovers in awe.

So, let's travel through this trance-like state and unveil the mysteries of its magnificent monuments.

Pyramids of Giza

Monuments of Egypt topping my list are the Pyramids of Giza, the most popular and well-known monuments in the world.

Highlights

  • This monument is the ultimate symbol of Egypt and a part of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
  • This monument's perfect shape and grand size will leave you in a trance, wondering how and why they built it.
  • These pyramids were built as tombs for the Pharaoh.
  • About 4000 years ago, over ten thousand workers constructed this incredible marvel, still the epitome of ancient Egyptian culture and civilization.
  • This site of Giza has numerous pyramids along with tombs and temples. In any case, the principal fascination of Giza is the three most enormous pyramids: Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure.

Khufu

Khufu is the primary Pyramid, one of the biggest and oldest of the multitude of pyramids. Khufu was the tomb of the Fourth Tradition Pharaoh at an altitude of 481 feet, making it the tallest artificial building on the planet for quite a long time. But its level abates to 455 feet after the dust storm.

Khafre

The second largest Pyramid of the pyramids of Giza is Khafre, the tomb of the 4th Dynasty Pharaoh, who was known as Chephren (son of Khufu). It looks larger than Khufu because it is located on higher ground. It is made of cleaned white limestone, which makes it glimmer in the daylight.

Menkaure

The littlest Pyramid out of these two is Menkaure, built in the 26th century for the Pharaoh Menkaure. It may look incomplete to you because Menkaure died before its completion.

Timings

The time for visiting the Pyramids of Giza is from 8 AM to 4 PM.

Charges

  • To visit the Giza Pyramid, you have to pay £13.80. However, students with their I'd have to pay £6.90.
  • Anyone who wants to visit Khufu should pay £15.40 per person.
  • To visit the Khafre pyramid, pay £2.60.
  • In the end, visiting the Menkaure pyramid will cost you £3.80.

Great Sphinx of Giza

The following pharaonic monument on my rundown is the Great Sphinx of Giza, a monster stone figure with the top of a man and the body of a lion.

Highlights

  • This mystical sculpture has a height of 66 feet and a length of 240 feet from its paw to its tail.
  • In Arabic, its name translates as 'the Father of Dread'; in Egyptian mythology, it means a symbol of strength, intelligence, and benevolence.
  • It was built around 2500 BCE for the 4Th Dynasty Pharaoh, which holds no authentic research.
  • It is one of Egypt's most significant cultural heritage sites, representing its history, grandeur, and architectural achievement.
  • If you visit the Sphinx of Giza, you will see that the sculpture has the disappearance of the nose, which they blame on Napoleonic forces. They made its drawing before the birth of their leader, considering it to be a noseless state.

Timing

You can visit the Sphinx of Giza any day from 8 AM to 4 PM.

Charges

Visiting this monument will cost you £4.10; if you're a student with ID, it will take £2 per person.

Egyptian Museum of Antiquities

To wrap things up on my list, I've added the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, which was opened in 1902 and is a must-visit place in Egypt.

Highlights

  • The building of this Museum has reddish-colored bricks, making it one of the most excellent museums with ancient Egyptian antiquities.
  • The extensive collection of the Museum has statues, paintings, reliefs, and funerary complexes of Pharaohs.
  • One of the highlights of the Museum is artefacts from the Valley of Kings and the Mummies Hall that will leave you in awe. Moreover, you can also see the remains of Pharaohs and other royals.
  • This Museum has about 120,000 odd incredible artifacts and more archaeological discoveries.
  • Another part of the Museum is now under construction on the Giza plateau, where you can see the remaining collection of Tutankhamun.

Timings

  • The Museum remains open from 9 AM to 7 PM from Monday to Wednesday.
  • On days like Thursday and Sunday, the Museum's opening time changes from 9 AM to 9 PM.
  • However, this Egyptian Museum opens from 9 AM to 4 PM on Friday and Saturday.

Charges

Entry charges to visit the Museum are £11.50 per head. However, the students have to pay £5.90 per student.
